10.13.18 and 10.14.18

SRQ to Atlanta to Doha, Qatar to Kolkata, India

Well, in just under 20 hours of actual flight time; 10.5 hours of waiting in the various airports; traveling through 3 different time zones, which moved my internal clock 9.5 hours ahead of EST, I actually arrived in Kolkata at the unheard time of 2:10 AM. And, by the time I arrived in my hotel room, it was almost 4 AM.

Despite the craziness, I managed to beg for and receive a waiver on my checked luggage from SRQ (due to the airlines I was traveling, the luggage could only travel to the Atlanta domestic terminal and then be picked up and taken the their international terminal - which, I might add, was nowhere near the domestic one). In all my travels, that was the first time that happened.

My next MAJOR break came when the almost 14-hour flight turned out to be only half full, so most of us were able to commandeer 3 seats to fully recline without paying for first class. (No such luck on the final 5-hour leg).

Another first...traveling on QatarAirways - another AWESOME!

Only managed to grab 4 hours of sleep once I arrived in my room, but breakfast was absolutely wonderful and delicious. And by 10 AM, we began our sightseeing tour of Kolkata...
